'Sister School' Scheme to serve as a platform to facilitate exchange, collaboration, expanded networks and enhanced communication and understanding

A signing ceremony to pave the way for an educational exchange programme between Austin School and four Mainland schools took place recently, attended by senior school representatives alongside Hong Kong and Mainland VIPs.

The Sister School Scheme will serve as a platform to facilitate exchange between Austin School and Mainland schools. Thanks to this collaboration, sister schools will be able to expand their networks, enhance understanding and communication, strengthen cultural connections and achieve mutual advancement in education quality.

Attending the event were Austin School Supervisor Dr. Peggy Chen and CEO Leon Huo, alongside Executive Director Tracy Ho and School Manager Chan Wan Sang JP.

Legislative Council member Lillian Kwok, Spokesperson for Education Affairs of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong, was the guest of honour and witness to the signing ceremony, alongside Andy Tse, who is a lawyer. Other VIP guests from Hong Kong included representatives of the Phoenix TV editorial board.

The session kicked off with introductory comments from Ms. Ho, and a greeting from Mr. Chan. This was followed by a guest speech by Ms. Kwok, before the signing ceremony with the five sister schools took place.

The event concluded with a thank you speech from Dr. Chen, who mentioned that the event represented a milestone cooperation between Hong Kong and Mainland schools in the field of education, and would have a positive and far-reaching role in promoting cultural exchanges between the two places.

She added that the Hong Kong government should strengthen ties with educational groups in Mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area, provide appropriate resources and supporting facilities, promote quality teaching courses in Hong Kong, and cultivate versatile and high quality students.

Dr. Chen also suggested that teachers in the two locations can conduct teaching exchanges such as class observation, evaluation and sharing in order to learn from each other.

It is hoped that the Sister School Scheme will deepen students' understanding of Chinese history, traditional morals and inheritance of Chinese

culture, and enhance their sense of national identity.
